Issue Description
The T3500 at a certain deployment site is equipped with two 1 TB disk units but no RAID card. During the installation of the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition on the T3500, no available disk is detected after the "Loading files" step. As a result, the operating system fails to be installed.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
For cause 1, do as follows to locate the fault:
Step 1  Check whether all disk units are properly inserted into their slots.
Step 2  Check whether indicators of all disk units are normal and no disk unit alarm is generated.
For cause 2, do as follows to locate the fault:
Step 1  Ensure that all disk units are properly inserted, all disk indicators are normal, and no disk unit alarm is generated.
Step 2  The problem recurs during an attempt to install the operating system. A message is displayed indicating that no disk is detected.
It is finally determined that this fault occurs because no disk unit is detected and the driver required by the T3500 operating system is not installed. You can handle this fault by either of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Use a floppy disk to load the driver.
Step 1  Prepare a USB floppy disk and a USB floppy disk drive. On a laptop, copy the driver included on the delivery-attached CD-ROM to the floppy disk.
Step 2  Install the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. When the "Loading files" message is displayed, press F6 to load the customized driver.
Step 3  After the customized driver is loaded, the operating system is ready to be installed.
Solution 2: Use the nlite software to prepare an installation CD-ROM.
Step 1  Start the nlite software. Save files from the operating system CD-ROM to a local directory, for example, C:/aaa.
Step 2  Restart the nlite software. Go to C:\aaa, and click the Next button until the capability selection page is displayed.
Step 3  Choose Compilation > Driver. When the dot before Driver changes from red to green, click the Next button and select Directory.
Step 4  Click Next to consolidate drivers. Then click Finish to finish the consolidation.
Step 5  Restart the nlite software. When the Option List page is displayed, choose Create > Boot ISO Mirror until the ISO mirror CD-ROM is successfully burned.
Root Cause
The message indicates that the error is caused by the failure to detect disk units. The following reasons may cause this failure:
Cause 1: The disk units are not properly inserted into disk slots.
Cause 2: The disk units are properly inserted into disk slots, but the driver is not loaded.

Suggestions
Prepare a USB CD-ROM driver (with the recorder capability), blank CD-ROMs, or a USB floppy disk drive (with floppy disks) against the failure to load the driver.
