FAQ-How Do I Configure a Static ARP Entry?

You can run the arp static command to configure a static ARP entry in which the mapping between an IP address and a MAC address is fixed.
  1. If the outbound interface is a Layer 3 physical or Eth-Trunk interface, run the arp static ip-address mac-address command to configure a static ARP entry.
  2. If the outbound interface is a VLANIF interface, Dot1q termination sub-interface, or QinQ termination sub-interface, run the arp static ip-address mac-address [ vid vlan-id [ cevid ce-vid ] interface interface-type interface-number ] command to configure a static ARP entry.
  3. If the outbound interface is bound to a VPN instance:
  • If the outbound interface is a Layer 3 physical or Eth-Trunk interface, run the arp static ip-address mac-address vpn-instance vpn-instance-name command to configure a static ARP entry.
  • If the outbound interface is a VLANIF interface, Dot1q termination sub-interface, or QinQ termination sub-interface, run the arp static ip-address mac-address [ vid vlan-id [ cevid ce-vid ] interface interface-type interface-number ] command to configure a static ARP entry.
