What Are the Meanings of the Items in Firewall Interface Statistics?
Solution
Run the display interface command to view packets statistics on the interface. For example:

The command output shows that the interface receives 68,489 packets, totally 6,245,989 bytes in the inbound direction. These packets include 49,034 broadcast packets and 10,384 multicast packets. The interface transmits 252 packets, totally 16,292 bytes, in the outbound direction. The description of other items is as follows:
  • Inbound direction:
− errors: total error packets in the inbound direction
− runts: ultrashort packets
− giant: oversized packets
− FCS: Ethernet packets with the FCS error
− length error: packets whose length field values vary with packet lengths
− code error: packets with code errors
− align errors: alignment errors. The length of packet is not an integer.
  • Outbound direction:
− errors: total error packets in the outbound direction
− collisions: collision errors during packet sending
− late collisions: post-collision errors before packets are completely sent
− ex. collisions: errors caused by continuous collision failure. A packet cannot be successfully sent after 16 collisions and thereby is discarded.
− FCS: Ethernet packets with the FCS error
− deferred: delayed sending. The delay for sending packets is available, excluding collision errors.
− runts: ultrashort packets
− giants: oversized packets
