EGS2 test via the SMB fails because optical modules of the N1EGS2 Board and the SmartBits meter do not match

Issue Description
The test of the GE port of the SSN1EGS211 board using the SmartBits600B meter fails. The EGS2 service is configured as a point-to-point transparent transmission service, the port mode is 1000MFULL, both IP port and MP are of the tagged, and the equipment type is OSN1500. Optical module label of the EGS2 board: 34060050 10KM Agilent HFCT-5710LP 1300nm LASER PROD 21CFR (J) CLASS1 singapore 0505; Optical module label of SmartBits600B: PL-XPL-VC-S13-11  PICOLIGHT USA-B  21CFR (J)CLASS1. Transceiving self-loop is conducted on the remote GE port. The local end uses the LC/LC tail fiber to connect the EGS2 board port and the transceiver end of the SmartBits600B optical module. The LINK indicator of the board is normal, and the ETH-LOS alarm disappears. However, the LINK indicator on the SmartBits600B test module is off. After the optical module operation right is obtained, the packet transceiving test cannot be started.

The OSN1500 host version is 5.36.11.12, and the EGS2 board version is 1.13.

Alarm Information
Null. But the Link indicator on the SMB meter is off.




Handling Process
Check the service configuration of the EGS2 board, and check the configuration correctness through the packet sending test.

1.  Use the related command to reset the optical module of the EGS2 board and link up again as follows:

Note: The optical module on the EGS2 board is hot pluggable. Resetting the board or plugging/unplugging the optical module of the EGS2 board will have the same effect as resetting the optical module by a command.

2.  Modify the GE port attribute of the EGS2 board and configure it as auto negotiation. Configure the SmartBits also in the auto negotiation mode. Reset the board and the SmartBits to relink them.

3.  Use the optical module of the EGS2 board in the SmartBits600B meter. After the fiber is connected, the LINK indicator on the optical module of the SmartBits600B meter goes on. Then the test can be normally conducted and the problem is solved. Fault cause: The link fails since the optical modules on the SmartBits600B meter and the EGS2 board do not match and the test standard of the SmartBits600B meter is too strict.

Root Cause
When the EGS2 board is configured in the 1000MFull mode, it cannot be linked to the SmartBits meter. In this case, it is necessary to reset the optical module or reset the board so as to link them together.

The link fails since the optical modules on the SmartBits600B meter and the EGS2 board do not match or the test standard of the SmartBits600B meter is too strict.


Suggestions
1. When using the SmartBits600B meter to test the EGS2 board, try not to set the meter to the 1000MFull mode, lest the link be down.

2. You need to specially check if the optical modules of the board and the meter match.

3. During the test, if the link cannot be up, you may reset the board or the optical module. The SmartBits600B meter will be restarted. Make sure that the tail fiber is correctly connected, the transceiving optical power is normal and there is no exception alarm.
