Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  39 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Topology: multicast source---CISCO6509---NE40A---NE40B---C3552---multicast source.
Service demands: NE40B needs receive multicast source from C6509 and C3552.
Realization: Route is interconnected through static route. Multicast route protocol uses PIM-SM.  Configure static RP at NE40B and connect C6509. Configure BSR and C-RP at C3552 and C-RP is elected as  RP. Configure BSR-BOUNDARY at NE40B to prevent BSR bootup information from transmitting to NE40A.
Problem: According to means above, receiver at NE40B cannot receive multicast data from C6509.

Handling Process
Add ACL. When configuring RP, add ACL. Special RP is used for special multicast group and the problem is solved.
Root Cause
Configure static RP and dynamic RP elected by BSR. Without the configuration ACL and under default, it will give priority to dynamic RP. When receivers at NE40B want to join C6059 multicast group, it should forward to C3552 not C6509.
