FAQ-Can we convert FE signal to E1 signal using ET1D

Publication Date:  2012-07-24 Views:  40 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Can we convert FE signal to E1 signal By ET1D?
We will use one Metro 1000,(SS46SCB without optical port), SP2d and ET1D board.
Can we create the service from ET1d to SP2D directly (Tributary to Tributary) to implement the FE signal convertion to E1s?
Please check the attachment.
Alarm Information
No Alarms.

Handling Process
We can fulfill the function that Convertion from FE to E1s, and transfer this E1s to another site through Microwave or the other SDH/PDH network. And at the other site, we can convert E1s back to FE signal. Thus we can implement the FE signal transfer on physical E1s.
But, please pay attention that.
1. We can convert the FE to E1s directly through Tributary to Tributary cross-connections from ET1D to SP2D board. But Please be noticed that the ports' number of ET1 must be consistented with that of the tributary board.
2. Only ET1D and ET1 board Can be used as the converter, Because the encapsulate protocol is ML_PPP. The other ethernet board, such as EFS,EGS (EFGS series) can not convert FE to E1s, because the encapsualtion is the GFP.
3. If we use this function, convert FE to E1s by ET1D and SP2D boards, When one of the E1 signal is failed (such as LOS), the whole FE signal will be interrupted.

Root Cause
We can fulfill the function that Convertion from FE to E1s,but there are some restrictions.
