Two NE40Es connect with 2 Ge interfaces ge1 and ge2. Both ge interfaces have been binded as an ethtrunk link.
Software used by NE40E is NE40E-NE80E-VRP5.30-31002Q.
Problem Phenomenon: From NE40EA can ping NE40EB
But from NE40E B cant ping NE40EA.
1.Check that Ethernet interfaces on two link ends are directly connected.
2.Check that the physical status and the protocol status are both Up.Run the< display interface>command to display the information on Ethernet interfaces.
3.Check whether the lower threshold of an Eth-Trunk interfaces is less than number of Up links. Run the <display membership> command to view the Up member interfaces in Eth-Trunk interfaces
4.Check that the number of Ethernet interfaces added to Eth-Trunk interfaces are the same on two link ends.Eth-Trunk interfaces should be configured symmetrically. On two link ends, run the display trunkmembership command to view the number of Up member interfaces added to Eth-Trunk interfaces. If the number of member interfaces is different, a fault may arise.
5.Check Arp information on each routers with command<display arp >
6.Using <ping> and <dis int>command on each router to check which interface send or receive packets.
7.undo all eth-trunk command on NE40EB then configure again.
From the problem phenomenon NE40EA can reach NE40EB but NE40EB can not. We can make sure that OSI Low 3 layer on NE40EA is Ok,so try to check the problem on NE40EB.Base on the troubleshooting by osi model we check the phycial link first but it works well. secondly we check the arp information of NE40EA on NE40EB,it can be learned by arp through GE2 interface on NE40EB(mac add should learned by Ethtrunk interface). Check the arp information on NE40EA Mac address learned by Ethtrunk link(it works fine).Use ping command to check which physical interface send packet on each router: NE40EA use Ge 1 send packet but NE40EB use Ge2.Check the GE2 interface counter on NE40EA there is no any packet count increasing when use ping command on NE40EB. But counter of GE 1 on NE40EB increased when use ping command on NE40EA. So the failure come from eth-trunk configuration on NE40EB. Undo all eth-trunk commands on NE40EB and configure again problem solved.
I think the problem come from software on NE40E. Make sure the interfaces used by two routers should be same.And arp information learned by ethtrunk but not GE phycial interface.
