A BITS monitoring terminal fails to connect to the BITS equipment due to the rate problem of the serial port

Publication Date:  2012-07-24 Views:  39 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
An NMS terminal was connected to the BITS equipment through a serial port. An operator created an NE on the NMS terminal. In the NE Attribute Setting window, the operator set Communication Mode to Serial Port and set Baud Rate to 9600. After the configuration, the NMS terminal was unable to monitor the BITS equipment.
Alarm Information
None.
Handling Process
The operator set Communication Mode to Serial Port and set Baud Rate to 19200 in the NE Attribute Setting window. After the configuration, the NMS terminal could monitor the BITS equipment.
Root Cause
When the NMS terminal is of the version 3.20, the minimum baud rate is 19200 and the baud rate cannot be set to 9600 when you set the IP address of the BITS equipment in the Remotely Modify BITS Attributes window. Hence, when you set the baud rate to 9600, the NMS terminal cannot communicate with the BITS equipment.
Suggestions
In the NE Attribute Setting window, the communication mode needs to be set to Serial Port, and the baud rate needs to be set to the same value as the serial port baud rate set in the Remotely Modify BITS Attributes window.
