How to adjust traffic load-sharing situation among member of Eth-trunk

Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  19 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Sometimes, the traffic flow is not shared equably among the members of Eth-trunk or IP-trunk interface, it may lead to one member interface reach wire-speed but at mean while other members just have a few traffic.
it cause low utilization of eth-trunk or IP-trunk interface.

Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
There is one way to adjust the traffic model among the member interfaces.
use this command under interface view:
distribute-weight  ***
this command can increase or decrease the weight during the router use Hash arithmetic to calculate traffic load-sharing among trunk members.
*** is the weight value, from 1 to 16, because the maximum member under one trunk interface is 16.
Root Cause
Because the data flow was shared to different member interfaces by Hash arithmetic, when there just a few data flow but traffc bandwidth is big, it may cause low utilization(some interface is full but others is low utilizaiton.)
Suggestions
command: distribute-weight  *** can increase or decrease the weight during the router use Hash arithmetic to calculate traffic load-sharing among trunk members to avoid low bandwidth utilization.
