Inconsistency of CPLD versions causes the NE report the MSSW_DIFFERENT alarm

Publication Date:  2012-07-24 Views:  51 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The Q1CXL board of OSN 3500 reports an alarm that it is not in position. An on-site observation of its running status finds that its running indicator is off. When this Q1CXL board is replaced, the new one reports the MSSW_DIFFERENT alarm and the data synchronization failure alarm. When the software of the active CXL board is copied to the new board, the data synchronization failure alarm disappears. When queried through :hbu-get-backup-info, its status is found 3, indicating success of the data synchronization. However, the active CXL still reports the MSSW_DIFFERENT alarm.
Alarm Information
MSSW_DIFFERENT alarm and data synchronization failure alarm.
Handling Process
1. Copy the software of the active CXL board onto the replace board, and the data synchronization failure alarm disappears. Query through :hbu-get-backup-info, and its status is found to be 3, indicating success of the data synchronization.
2. The active CXL board still reports the MSSW_DIFFERENT alarm. Run :sftm-get-vermatch-info:82, VERCHECK and find that the CPLD return value LogicE01 (U21) 110 in the 82 software is different from the CPLD return value LogicE01 (U21) 130 of the 81 software.
3. Check the software package but find no CPLD upgrade software. Confirm with the company and learn that CPLD cannot be upgraded simply by software. CPLD inconsistency in a short period does not affect normal use of the board.
4. To avoid any problem, it is recommended to keep CPLD consistent for the replace CXL board.
Root Cause
Software inspection report that it is the software version inconsistency that causes the MSSW_DIFFERENT alarm.
Suggestions
Both software and CPLD must be consistent for the replace CXL board.
