The N64Q board fails to be interconnected to the packet switched equipment when the N64Q board uses the V35 interface

Publication Date:  2012-07-24 Views:  47 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Stations A and B used the OptiX Metro 1000 V3, and were interconnected through the N64Q boards. The two stations used the N64Q boards to provide 64 kbit/s services. A modem was connected to station A. Station B was connected to the DPN100 equipment of vendor B through the V35 interface. An operator found that certain user services on the packet switched equipment were looped back. The protocol, however, could not be started. In addition, no signal was transmitted on two cables.
Alarm Information
None.
Handling Process
The operator enabled the control lines. After the setting, the signals of the packet switched equipment became normal and the services were normally cut over.
Root Cause
To support far-end or near-end loopbacks on the modem, the control lines of the V35 serial ports are disabled by default. When the V35 serial port is not connected to the modem, the control lines of the V35 serial port need to be enabled. If the control lines are not enabled, the opposite end reports an alarm.

Suggestions
In the case of DDN services, when the N64Q board uses the V35 interface, the lines of the V35 interface for controlling the loopback on a modem need to be enabled if the interconnected equipment is not the modem. Otherwise, services are unavailable.
