Pre-joining the Multicast Group Fails to Be Configured on the ME60 Because the multicast-group source interface Command Is not Used

Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  55 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The multicast routing-enable command is used on the ME60 V100R005, static RP is configured, and PIM-SM is enabled on the interface. Pre-joining the multicast group fails to be configured.
Alarm Information

[ME60-1-aaa]multicast-group ut-1 ip  235.23.0.1 prejoin
 Can't get multicast source interface

Handling Process

First use the multicast-group source interface g 2/0/0 command, and then configure the pre-joining function.

Root Cause

Before pre-joining the multicast group is configured on the ME60, you need use the multicast-group source interface command in the system view to specify the interface of the multicast source.

When pre-joining the multicast group is enabled, the ME60 should establish the connection with the multicast source without multicast users. At the moment, the ME60 functions as a multicast user and need have its source IP address. The source IP address can be obtained by configuring the interface of the multicast source. The interface must be assigned with the IP address. The interface of the multicast source is globally unique and is valid for all multicast groups. The interface has no default value. When one multicast group is enabled with pre-joining, the interface of the multicast source must be configured. If all multicast groups are not enabled with pre-joining, the interface of the multicast source need not be configured.
