FAQ-How to Confirm the Response Time of SNMP Packet on BMS NMS

Publication Date:  2012-07-24 Views:  47 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
How to confirm the response time of SNMP packet on BMS NMS?
Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
A:
In order to prevent the over high CPU usage of the host, the Agent module of the host fixedly delays 10ms for the Get and Set of every packet. The Get Next has 20ms delay because it is set in the code of host on purpose. Some operation needs to be handled on the service board, such as: querying the CPU usage of the service board or the edition of service board. The control board needs to send messages to the service board and the required information can be available after receiving the response message from the service board. It needs about 100 ms. Therefore, the maximal value of SNMP response time is: 20 ms (fixed delay) +100 ms + double network time delay. The normal time is around 200 ms.
