FAQ-How to Understand the ATM Related Options When Configuring the Traffic table in the GPON

Publication Date:  2012-07-24 Views:  31 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
When configuring the "Traffic table" in the GPON (5600T), I find the following IP and ATM options:
MA5600(config)#traffic table
{ index<K>|ip<K>|atm<K> }:ip
{ car<K> }:car
{ carval<U><64,524288>|off<K> }:2048
{ priority<K> }:priority
{ prival<U><0,7>|user-cos<K>|user-tos<K> }:0
{ priority-policy<K> }:priority-policy
{ priority-policy<E><Pvc-Setting,Tag-In-Package> }:pvc-Setting
Shall I select IP or ATM? In addition, ETHERNET is provided on the GTC according to the protocol stack. What is the function of the "PVC-setting"?

Handling Process
A:
The ATM option configuration in the "traffic table" is ineffective. Actually, no matter which one of IP and ATM is selected, two types of templates can be created simultaneously; for example:
Command:
          display traffic table from-index 0
  Traffic parameters for IP service:
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  TID  CAR(kbps)  Priority  Pri-Policy
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  0    1024       6         tag-pri
  7    2048       0         pvc-pri
  11   40960      6         pvc-pri
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Traffic parameters for ATM service:
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  TID  Service Traf CLP01PCR CLP0PCR CLP01SCR CLP0SCR MBS  CDVT   PPD/XXX/SHAPE

Type    Type kbps     kbps    kbps     kbps    cells 1/10us

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  0    cbr     2    1024     --      --       --      --   --       off/off/--
  7    ubr     2    2048     --      --       --      --   --       on /on /--
  11   ubr     2    40960    --      --       --      --   --       on /on /--
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason why "PVC-SETTING" appears in the priority options is that the command line has been expanded. Actually, IP and ATM all represent the priorities of ETH. But "PVC-SETTING" denotes that the priority configured in the command shall be used. If "TAG-IN-PAGGAGE" is selected, the priority carried in the ETH message prevails.
That is to say, the configuration on the device shall be used for IP service, and the original priority of the message shall be used for ATM service.
