FAQ–Some Questions About the NE40 QOS Application

Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  64 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
The version of the NE40 is 8011V100R002B03D051SP02 Software.
Following QOS features are applied to certain FE service interfaces.
traffic fetraffic-af3 cdr 30000 cbs 12288 weight 30
traffic fetraffic-af4 cdr 5000 cbs 12288 weight 5
traffic fetraffic-ef cdr 10000 cbs 12288
traffic fetraffic-be cdr 40000 cbs 12288
traffic fetraffic-af1 cdr 15000 cbs 12288
Problems meet in the feature application.
1. The bandwidth assurance is allocated with 100M. Are packets discarded when a queue exceeds the threshold, and the configured weight does not work?
2. If the bandwidth assurance is 80M and the actual interface traffic is 50M, is the remaining bandwidth occupied according to the configured weight when a queue exceeds the threshold? And which remaining bandwidth is occupied, the one of 20M or the one of 50M?
3. The weight value of the BE queue is not configured, is the default value of the weight is 0?

Handling Process
A:
1. The bandwidth assurance is allocated with 100M and no remaining traffic is left. Are packets discarded when a queue exceeds the threshold, and the configured weight does not work? The weight here corresponds to the allocation of the remaining bandwidth (not the remaining configured bandwidth) when the interface is congested. For example, the bandwidth of the EF is assured to 100M, but the actual traffic if 50M. When the non-EF traffic is larger than 50M, the interfaces is congested, and the non-EF traffic occupies the remaining bandwidth according to its configured weight.
2. If the bandwidth assurance is 80M, but the actual interface traffic is 50M, is the remaining bandwidth occupied according to the configured weight when a queue exceeds the threshold? And which remaining bandwidth is occupied, the one of 20M or the one of 50M?
3. The weight value of the BE queue is not configured, is the default value of the weight is 0?
All queues have their own default values of the weight. The default value of the EF is 25 and of others is 15.
