FAQ-ROAM Configuration of the OSN 6800

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  48 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
This case supplements the information about the ROAM board configuration of the OSN 6800.
Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
1. In the manual mode, the output power of each wavelength of the ROAM board should be set.
2. In the automatic mode, the attenuation of the ROAM board is set according to the nominal value of the optical amplifier in the downstream of the signal flow. If there is no optical amplifier in the downstream of the ROAM board, you cannot choose the automatic mode for the ROAM board.

Root Cause
The ROAM configuration of the OSN 6800 is not clearly described in related documents.
Suggestions
1. In the manual mode, the output power of each wavelength of the ROAM board should be set.
2. In the automatic mode, if there is no optical amplifier in the downstream of the ROAM board, you cannot choose automatic power adjustment, because no nominal optical power value is available for reference.
3. The ROAM board adds wavelengths through the Ax port as shown on the T2000 but the physical port on the equipment is the Mx port. The signal flow is the same as on the T2000.
