FAQ-How to Register the Four to Six HICs of the NE20E Normally

Slot 1, 2, and 4 of the NE20/20E are high-speed slots, which can support the normal registration and work of HICs. When the HICs are more than three, namely, between four and six, how can we register these cards normally? (This case study is applicable to V200R005)

1. The NE20E V200R005 adds four HICs, namely, 16E1/T1, CPOS E1/T1, 1/2/4ATM, and IPSEC. V200R005 extends the HIC slot positions by dividing one DMU corresponding to slot 1 into four channels, assigned to slot 1, 3, 5, and 7 respectively. Each slot supports 155 Mbit/s. Therefore, 1POS, 1ATM, CPOS E1/T1, and 16E1/T1 can be inserted into slot 1, 3, 5, and 7. Any type of HICs can be inserted into slot 2 and 4, like V200R003.
2. When V200R005 works, first check what board is at slot 1. If it is 1POS, 1ATM, CPOS E1/T1, or 16E1/T1, insert any one of the 1POS, 1ATM, CPOS E1/T1, and 16E1/T1 into slot 3, 5, or 7. Slot 2 and 4 are not limited by this rule. Any type of HICs can be inserted at slot 2 and 4. Thus, the NE20E supports normal work of HICs in slot 1, 3, 5, 7, 2, and 4. If an HIC other than 1POS, 1ATM, CPOS E1/T1, and 16E1/T1, for example, 2/4POS, 1/2GE, or IPSEC, is inserted into slot 1, the HICs in slot 3, 5, and 7 cannot work normally. In this case, like V200R003, the NE20E supports only normal running of HICs at slot 1, 2, and 4. Other slots are displayed as Abnormal.
3. In 6 HIC mode, slot 1, 3, 5, and 7 support CPOS, 6CE1/CT1, HIC 1POS, and HIC 1ATM155. In 3 HIC mode, slot 1, 2, and 4 support 1/2/4POS, 1/2/4ATM, 2FE, 4FE, 8FE, GE, 2GE, CPOS, 16E1/T1, and IPSEC.
4. Mode switching restriction during hot swap: The NE20E V200R005 inherits the defects of V200R003 equipment. That is, the equipment cannot be switched between SMII (Ethernet), GMII (GE), and POS. Therefore, on the condition that the preceding rules are followed, hot swap of HICs from slot 1, 3, 5, and 7 is subject to the following restrictions: If HIC CPOS, HIC CE1/CT1, HIC xPOS, or HIC xATM was once hot swapped from slot 1, 3, 5, or 7, HIC xFE and HIC xGE cannot be inserted into slot 1. If HIC xFE or HIC xGE was once hot swapped from slot 1, HIC CPOS, HIC CE1/CT1, HIC xPOS, or HIC xATM cannot be inserted into slot 1, 3, 5, or 7.
