FAQ-How to Perform the Configuration When the L2 Switch Is Subtended to the ONT

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  52 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
When the L2 switch is subtended to the ONT, and each user has a VLAN, how to perform the configuration?
Networking: MA5680T(GPBC)-ODN-HG850(FE)-S2403

Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process

 A:

Analysis: 1. The GEM port can carry the single service and multiple services. Each GEM port, however, can support the mapping of up to eight traffic streams. That is, up to eight user VLANs can be mapped to a GEM port.
2. The FE port of the HG805 supports the transparent transmission of multiple user VLANs, so multiple user VLANs can be mapped to a GEM port.

1. The user VLANs are transparently transmitted on the upstream port of the S2403.
2. The FE port of the HG850 transparently transmits all the user VLANs, and maps the VLANs to the GEM port. If the number of the user VLANs exceeds eight, the user VLANs can be mapped to multiple GEM ports.
3. Add the user VLAN to the service virtual port of the MA5680T. All the user VLANs can be mapped to one service VLAN; or each user VLAN is mapped to one service VLAN.

Suggestion:The Ethernet port of the ONT functions as the hybrid port of the switch. That is, the Ethernet port can be connected to the PC as well as the switch.
