Why does the system display the message that the upstream port is not available when the upstream port of the VLAN is configured on the MA5680T?
The message is displayed as follows:
MA5680T(config)#port vlan 2 0/19 0
Failure: Port 0/19/0 is not available. Check whether the electronic switch is available or whether the electronic switch is configured.

Handling Process

 A:

 The problem exists mainly in the following networking: The control board is the SCUB board, and only the GIU board is adopted for the upstream service transmission.
The analysis is as follows: The built-in electronic switch of the SCUB board is used to determine whether the SCUB board or the GIU board is adopted for the upstream transmission.
By default, the upstream port of the SCUB board is adopted for the upstream transmission. Therefore, when the electronic switch is not configured, the preceding message is displayed if the GIU upstream port is configured for the upstream transmission.
The default configuration is as follows:

Modify the electronic switch as follows:
MA5680T(config)# electro-switch 0 location-1
After the modification, the GIU board is adopted for the upstream transmission. In addition, the upstream port of the SCUB board cannot be adopted for the upstream transmission. 
 

The electronic switch needs to be modified only when the SCUB board functions as the control board and a single GIU is adopted for the upstream service transmission. In the case of other types of networking, no modification is needed. Improper modification causes the service interruption. Therefore, exercise caution when performing this operation for the device running on the network.
