Solution to the Problem That the Navigation Tree of the SMC Is Null on Solaris 10

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  19 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
A new server is installed with Solaris 10. During the operation of adding system users, after the SMC is started, the navigation tree is null. The system users cannot be configured.
Alarm Information
The server is not running.
Handling Process
To query the service status of the SMC, run the following commands:
#cd /etc/init.d
#./init.wbem status
The system prompts "Solaris Management Console server not running on port 898.” Run the following command:
#./init.wbem start
Then run the #./init.wbem status command. The system still prompts that the server is not running on port 898. Restart the system and log in to the SMC. The dialog box for selecting This Computer or Management Tools is displayed. After selecting related tools and entering the password of the super user, you can configure system users successfully.

Root Cause
You need to start and configure the SMC manually in the newly installed system.
Suggestions
After the SMC is started, the configuration takes effect only after the system is restarted.
