FAQ-How to Deal With the Excessive AC Connections in the VPLS Service Carried by the NE40E

Issue Description
Q:
The NE40E may carry the VPLS service when acting as the SR. Currently, the NE40E supports at most 512 AC connections. When there are too many users within a VSI, the number of AC connections may exceed the limit. What should we do to avoid this from happening?

Handling Process
 A:
The VPLS service carried by the NE40E features the net structure. In the case of excessive AC connections, check the users’ requirements. If the users require interconnection between the clients and the center, but not interconnection between the clients, do as follows to ensure the connections:
1. Switch the center to another device and maintain the same number of AC connections to the clients.
2. Link the AC connections to the clients with the PE. Then establish the PW between this PE and the PE where the center is.
3. Allocate the clients within the same VSI originally connected to the NE40E to multiple VSIs attached to the PEs.
4. Establish the PWs between the VSIs attached to the NE40E and the VSIs attached to another device where the center is. Thus, inter-access is realized between the clients and the center. 

 
Root Cause
Current, V300R002 supports at most 512 AC connections. 

 
Suggestions
In the case of excessive users in a VSI, say, more than 1,000 users, who do not require inter-access between the clients, it is recommended to perform the preceding procedures to ensure the connections. Otherwise, the excessive MAC addresses on the switch will affect the device performances and cause the loss of packets.
