The 2M Services Are Unavailable Because the Storage Battery Is Not Grounded When It Is Used to Supply Power to the GIE4805 in the Case of Power Failure

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  65 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Huawei OptiX 155/622H equipment is powered by the matching voltage conversion equipment GIE4805 provided by company E. The input voltage of the GIE4805 is 220 V. The GIE4805 provides three 48 V output terminals. The output voltage ranges from 54 V to 60 V. Among the three output terminals, two are connected to the active and standby 48 V power supplies of the OptiX 155/622H equipment and one is connected to the storage battery. The bar code of the SS4E2BPS is 02120105. One day, the 220 V power supply was faulty and the OptiX 155/622H equipment was powered by the storage battery through the GIE4805. In that case, the 2M services were unavailable but no transmission alarm was generated.

Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
1. Remove the storage battery and use the 220 V power supply to supply power through the GIE4805. Then, the 2M signal is restored to normal.
2. It is suspected that all the storage batteries may result in such a fault. The switch also uses the storage battery as the standby power supply. Therefore, disconnect the 220 V power supply from the switch and use the storage battery to supply power to the switch. The services, however, are normal. In this case, the 220 V power supply is still used to supply power to the OptiX 155/622H equipment through the GIE4805.
3. Usually, the 220 V power supply is also disconnected when the power failure occurs on the telecommunications room. Therefore, disconnect the 220 V power supplies from the OptiX 155/622H equipment and the switch, and use the storage batteries to supply power to the OptiX 155/622H equipment and the switch. The services, however, are still unavailable.
4. Find that the storage battery of the switch has a yellow green grounding cable connected to the grounding bar. Make the storage batteries of the OptiX 155/622H equipment and the switch share a ground and then disconnect the mains. As a result, no service interruption occurs and the fault is rectified.

Root Cause
The services are unavailable because the chassis of the storage battery is not grounded. The bar code of the SS4E2BPS is 02120105.

Suggestions
The GIE4805 provided by company E and the storage battery may be already delivered with Huawei OptiX 155/622H equipment. Therefore, you must ground the chassis of the storage battery during the installation. Otherwise, the services are affected in the case of mains failure.
For the GIE4805, the 220 V three-phase plug has a ground. Therefore, using the GIE4805 to separately supply power does not affect signals.
