FAQ-How to Modify the Version of the IGMP Report Packet Sent by the Multicast Client Simulation Software

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  60 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
In the GPON multicast service test, when the MA5600T is configured to work in the IGMP V3 mode, the user can demand the program. When the MA5600T is configured to work in the IGMP V2 mode, the user cannot demand the program. According to packet capture result, the IGMP report packet sent by the client is still of the V3 version. How can the client send IGMP V2 packets?
(The client is VLC 0.8.1 and the OS is Windows XP SP2. The version of the MA5600T can be V8R005 or V8R105.)

Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
A:
Modify the Windows Registry. In the command mode, run the regedit command to display the Registry Editor dialog box. In the left pane, navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters. Click Parameters, right-click in the empty area of the right pane, and choose New > DWORD Value to create a DWORD value (with the name IGMPVersion and the value 3 or 4). Then, restart Windows 2000/XP.
Note: The value 3 of IGMPVersion indicates the V2 version and 4 indicates the V3 version.

Root Cause
The version of the packet sent by the client simulation software is determined by the OS. Currently, Windows XP supports IGMP V3 by default. (Even the program configured on the VLC software is udp://@224.1.1.1, the sent IGMP report packet is still of the V3 version.)
