Issue Description
When an MA5616 (version: SmartAX MA5616 V800R306C01B053+SPH001) is newly deployed, the fax services on the MA5616 is abnormal. To be specific, the fax cannot be transmitted or received.
Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
1. Trace signaling. It is found that the signaling exchange has no problems.
2. Check the softswitch configuration. It is found that the configuration is correct.
3. Run the following command to check the fax-mode parameters.
HW-jdsn-MA5616(config)#display fax-modem parameters
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Negomode               : Negotiation
  Packet-interval-10ms   : Disable
  Rfc2198-start-mode     : enable  Rfc2198SmartStartup
  Vbd-codec              : G.711A
  Vbd-payload-type       : Static
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is found that the parameter Rfc2198-start-mode is enabled. Then, run the fax-modem parameters rfc2198-start-mode disableRfc2198SmartStartup command to disable this parameter. The fax services recover.
Root Cause
1. The signaling exchange is abnormal.
2. The softswitch configuration is incorrect.
3. The fax parameter negotiation is faulty.
Suggestions
RFC2198 is a redundancy mode that automatically starts to transmit data services. If the RFC2198 function is enabled on a device, this function also needs to be enabled on the peer gateway. In general, this function is disabled on the peer gateway. Therefore, this function needs to be disabled on the device to ensure normal fax services.
