FAQ-How to Determine Whether the Optical Port on the Upstream GIU Board Is Up or Down on the MA5680T

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  41 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
How to determine whether the optical port on the upstream GIU board is up or down on the MA5680T?
Alarm Information
Null
Handling Process
A:
1. If there is no optical signal in the Rx direction, the optical port goes down, no matter what mode the optical port of the peer device is in.
2. If there is no optical signal in the Tx direction, the optical port goes down when this port and the optical port of the peer device are both in the auto negotiation mode. This is because the remote fault negotiation information is sent to notify the peer of the local problem. The optical port will not go down only if there is optical signal in the Rx direction when this port and the port of the peer device are both in the forced mode.
