The differences between these two modes are as follows: In the timedelay PG, the standby port is shut down; that is, the standby port does not transmit or receive optical signals. To perform a switching, shut down the active port and then enable the standby port. In the portstate PG, the standby port does not transmit optical signals, but receives optical signals. When a fault on the active port is detected, the standby port is directly enabled and transmits optical signals, and at the same time the active port is disabled from transmitting optical signals. That is, the standby port functions as the active port now. The port on the GIU upstream board supports only the timedelay PG. The portstate PG is used for the upstream port on the SCUB control board.
