FAQ - How to increase available disk space on iManager N2000 BMS

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  12 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Because of multiple backups the available disk space on iManager N2000 BMS reached a dangerous value.
Alarm Information
Alarm in BMS as well as information in the N2000 System Monitor verification. Please check the attachment for how to check the disk space in N2000 System Monitor.
Handling Process
By default the DC tool that comes with iManager N2000 is doing backups of the whole databases based on customer request. After deep analyze we found out there is a way to automatically archive these files. Below is the step-by-step procedure.
1. Display the current setting:
root@N2000Test # more /opt/n2000/server/conf/dbback/diskbak.cfg
[diskbaksetting]
MaxBackupNumber=4
BackupFirstFlag=1
ZipFlag=0
2. Modify the ZipFlag to 1
vi /opt/n2000/server/conf/dbback/diskbak.cfg
[diskbaksetting]
MaxBackupNumber=4
BackupFirstFlag=1
ZipFlag=1
3. Save and exit
:wq!
4. Display again to see if the configuration took efect:
root@N2000Test # more /opt/n2000/server/conf/dbback/diskbak.cfg
[diskbaksetting]
MaxBackupNumber=4
BackupFirstFlag=1
ZipFlag=1
5. Go to N2000 System Monitor and restart the "Database Backup Tool process".
6. After the first automatic backup check if the new backups are archived.
Root Cause
After deleting all the unnecessary files in N2000, the available space is still not enough. Therefore a new solution should be found.
Suggestions
When doing the recovery please pay maximum attention if there is enough disk space on the server to unpack the zip archive. If there is enough space the DC tool will automatically unpack it and recover it. This function can pack the backup files to arround 11% of its unpacked value.
