Telnet tool is not working on N2000 client.
After discussion with cusotmer that reported the problem we found out that problem is occuring only on one computer, telnet tool on all other computers is working ok. Based on this we suspect that problem is in firewall that is blocking telnet connection on port 9811.
1. Device Access Proxy Proccess on BMS
At the first place, we checked if Device Access Proxy Proccess responsible for telnet tool is running. Checking shows that process is running.
Manual telnet to port 9811 on BMS is OK, meaning that firewall is not blocking port 9811.
3. At this point it seems strange that telnet tool is not working although all settings are correct so we suspect that there is problem with installation of N2000 client. After some resarch we detect that problematic computer is running on 64-bit version of Windows which is differnet that 32-bit version of Windows running on computers where telnet tool is working ok. We belive that this is the problem and after checking with R&D support get information that N2000 is not supported on 64-bit versions of Windows.
Anyway we try to enable telnet tool as we belive that N2000 client apllication should work normally because 64-bit Windows support 32-bit apllication with WoW64 subsystem. Futher troublesooting shows that telnet application does not open at the first place and we conclude that this is root cause of the problem.
4. Telnet does not start because telnet application is missing (by default) in WoW64 directory which is folder used after redirection process on 64-bit versions of Windows.
5. After copying 32-bit version of telnet to SysWoW64 folder, telnet tool works normally.
Missing 32-bit Telnet Application on 64-bit Windows.
Allow usage of N2000 client on 64-bit Windows.
