Cannot set gain of OAU boards

Publication Date:  2012-07-25 Views:  93 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
For X customer, we are implementing a metropolitan NG WDM network with OSN8800 and OSN6800 equipment. We are currently using U2000 V100R003 version.
During commissioning, several OAU101 boards fail to set gain normally. The normal gain range of these boards is between 20 and 31 dB.
However, in some boards, the nominal gain upper and lower threshold parameters, appeared with different values, and doesn’t allow the normal nominal gain set operation.
Alarm Information
VOA_ADJUST_FAIL in the OAU101 board
Handling Process
1. Reset to the OAU board.
2. Check laser status of the OAU board.
3. Check optical power in the OAU board.
4. Check attenuation between RDC and TDC ports of the OAU board and the DCM.
After this last step, we found abnormal attenuation between RDC/TDC port and the DCM, we changed the fibers between RDC an OUT port of DCM and TDC and IN port of the fiber, after this change the gain adjustment could be settled.
Root Cause
The DCM fibers connected to the RDC and TDC ports of the OAU, had to much attenuation.
Suggestions
