Customer start with huge IPTV service selling and in order to releaze this service in best way, they need information which IGMP version our MA5600T ( which have version V800R006C02) support and what is different between them.

Handling Process

A:

MA5600T V800R006C02 support IGMP V2 and IGMP V3.
By default IGMP V3 is activive.

Different betweenIGMP V1, IGMP V2 and IGMP V3 is in following:
-IGMP V1:  IGMP version 1 defines the process of querying and reporting a multicast group member

                   There are two types of messages:

                   1. Message for query about group members
−The message is sent out by the router to query whether there are members of a specific group in the network.
                    2. Message for query about group report messages
−The message is sent out by the host on the network to report its group ID to the router.


-IGMP V2:  IGMP version 2 is the general version. On the basis of IGMP version 1, it provides additional member quick leave mechanism.

                     There are three types of messages:

                    1. Message for query about group members
−The message is sent out by the router to query whether there are members of a specific group on the network.
                    2. Group report message
−The message is sent out by the host on the network to report its ID to the router.
                    3. Leave message of a specific group
−The message is sent out by the host to tell the router that it has left a specific group



-IGMP V3:  IGMP version 3 provides an additional function that allows a member to receive and deny packets of a specific multicast source
