FAQ--Configuration Solution for a Special Ethernet Application Scenario

Issue Description
 Background:
A company branch which has three departments locates in remote area of Country Z and it needs a temporary communication for the three departments (hereinafter referred as #2, #3, #4) and the headquarters (hereinafter referred as #1). A topology is provided as shown right. The headquarters adopts an EFS4 card on the OSN3500 and the other three departments in the branch adopt Metro1000 with EFT card only. All the Data equipments in headquarters and branch do not support the VLAN ID processing.

 Requirement:
#1 can communicate with #2, #3 and #4, #3 and #4 can communicate with each other, however, #2 should be isolated from both #3 and #4. The communication requirement can be summarized as the following diagram.

Configuration Analysis:
  1. Service Type:
For #2, #3, #4, transparent EPL service can meet the requirement. The key point is the #1, since multipoints to multipoints communication is needed in #1, so LAN service is a must.
  1. VB Type:
The 802.1q Bridge must be needed for this requirement cause the service isolation in different department is required.
  1. VLAN ID Planning:
Because the Data equipments which interconnect with the OSN3500 and Metro 1000 do not support the VLAN ID processing and the service must be isolated with different VLAN IDs, so there must be planned VLAN ID for the accessed Ethernet frames. Consequently, we can assign different VLAN IDs to the accessed Ethernet frames on EFS4 card for OSN3500. We can change the PORT1 and VCTRUNKS attributes of the EFS4 card and configure a 802.1q bridge with ports Port1, VCTRUNK 1 ,VCTRUNK 2 and VCTRUNK 3 as follows:

  1. VLAN Filtering:
When the VLAN ID is assigned, VLAN Filtering table is needed to realize the service isolation. The VLAN Filtering table can be configured as following:
  PORT 1 VCTRUNK 1 VCTRUNK 2 VCTRUNK 3
VLAN ID 1    
VLAN ID 2  
VLAN ID 3  
VLAN ID 4
Notes: The ‘√’ means the marked Port and VCTRUNK should be included in the VLAN Filtering table.
Make a service test, the communication requirement can be met.
