Q :
we have an existing link aggregation connection between our huawei NE40E and huawei ME60. we need to know the following:

1. how is the link aggregation protocol distribute the traffic on the links. is it on per session basis (that is packets with the same source and destination are sent on the same links)?

2. if we want to distribute the traffic equally on the links, what do we need to do? is there any downtime required?

1. how is the link aggregation protocol distribute the traffic on the links. is it on per session basis (that is packets with the same source and destination are sent on the same links)?

a. huawei default, the traffic goes on which link is hashed by source ip&port, destiantion ip&port and protocol number together.

2. if we want to distribute the traffic equally on the links, what do we need to do? is there any downtime required?

a.no, there is no downtime. the service should be smooth.
b.you can use command below to choose the mode of load balancing you require :

format

load-balance { ip | mac | packet-all }

we don't suggest to use "load-balance packet-all" mode as there is out-of-order problem cannot be solved by this mode, the packets will be disordered.
