FAQ-how to report CPU over threshold alarm to NMS by RMON method

Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  126 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:
if we use "set cpu-usage threshold" command, the cpu over threshold alarm will only show as an alarm in ME60, cannot report to NMS, how can we achieve that by RMON method?

Alarm Information

Handling Process
A:
RMON method can achieve this requirement, the configuration guide in the product document is not quite specific, so I tested it:
1. for cpu-usage over threhold requirement, we don't need to configure RMON statistics table(command "rmon statistic");
2. the complete script for this requirement is inclosed as below(my comments are in the  "()"):
 [ME60]rmon event 1 trap(when the threshold is reached, a log will be generated in trapbuffer and sent to NMS) test owner test
 [ME60]rmon alarm 1 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.6.3.4.1.2.0.133.0(OID of cpu-usage) 30(sampling interval) absolute rising-threshold 10(when cpu-usage over 10%, the alarm is triggered) 1 falling-threshold 5(when cpu-usage less than 5%, the alarm is triggered) 1 owner test

3. 30 seconds after the configuration, we can see one log is successfully generated in the trapbuffer, and this information has been sent to NMS at the same time:
#May 30 2012 16:26:30+08:00 R5 RMON/1/ALARMUP:OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.0.1 Alarm table 1 monitors 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.6.3.4.1.2.0.133.0 with the sample type being 1, and the sampled alarm value 18 is greater than or equal to 10.
