How to Troubleshoot VIS Power Supply Fault

Publication Date:  2012-07-19 Views:  58 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
During the VIS device health check with the inspector, the power supply status is displayed Fault.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
Step 1  Log in to the VIS and run the command to view the power supply status.
Step 2  If Switch Status is displayed On, the power supply is powered on.
Step 3  Check the connection of power cables and the power cable of the VIS is loosely inserted. Insert power cables manually, but the fault persists.
Step 4  Check the power indicator on the front panel and find that the power indicator is on and off all the time.
Step 5  Check the PDU power socket in the cabinet and find that the power cable and the power socket are loosely connected.
Step 6  Change the power socket position. The power indicator is green on. Run the showpower command. The power status is found normal.
Root Cause
The power supply is damaged or the connection between the power supply and power socket is improper.
Suggestions
The VIS is configured with two power supplies. The device can be running normally with one power supply. If the green power indicator on the front panel is off, the power supply may be faulty or there is no power supply at all.
