Publication Date:  2012-07-19 Views:  2 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
In one S2600 controller plus 3 disk enclosure system, after powered on all devices at the same time, login ISM and found disk enclosure_02 power number 2 had alarm (Refer to the below picture). The power supply number 2 already input in the disk enclosure and seem all was fine.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
Firstly, Power off all devices and follow:
Power-off sequence: application server → switch (if has) → controller enclosure →disk enclosures → cabinet
Secondly, Power on all devices and follow:
Power-on sequence: cabinet → disk enclosures → controller enclosure → switch (if has) → application server.
When you power on the power supply for each box one by one, you should power on both powers at the same time.
After this operation was done, the whole system ran normally and the power alarm was gone.
Root Cause
After checked the indicator light of disk enclosure_02, compared the two controller board device ID number, left side showed 02, but right side showed 03. For this disk enclosure_02, it should show the same number 02. And we checked the physical power supply, even we exchanged another new power and input, the alarm was still there. We doubt may the sequence of powering on not exact.
Suggestions
Due to our SAN product has strict power-on sequence, so we should let customer know this, and when they power on and off system, must be very careful.
