How to restore the data in a RAID 5 group of the S5000 storage device by importing the DB file?

Publication Date:  2012-07-20 Views:  50 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
1. Host running the Windows2003 OS.
2. S5300 storage device.
3. A RAID group is configured and LUNs are mapped to the host.
4. The DB file is exported.
5. Four coffer disks form a RAID 5 group. When one disk is removed, the RAID group starts reconstruction and the RAID group fails.

Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
There are three situations:
1. Insert two original disks and import the DB file that is backed up when the system properly runs. The system scans the disks again on the host. All disks have normal mappings and the data is restored and can be accessed.
2. Insert a new disk and an original disk and import the DB file that is backed up when the system properly runs. The RAID group starts reconstruction and then system scans the disks again on the host. All disks have normal mappings and the data is restored and can be accessed.
3. Insert two new disks to replace the original disks. The RAID group still fails and the data cannot be accessed.
Root Cause
None
Suggestions
It is recommended to backup the DB file and use the duplicate to restore the data when the RAID 5 group fails.
