Why Part of the OceanStor S2600 Devices in the Same Subnet Fail to be Discovered?

Publication Date:  2012-07-22 Views:  39 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

Twenty S2600 devices are installed on a deployment site and allocated on the same subnet. However, only four of them can be discovered by using the delivery-attached device discovery tool.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
There are two solutions:
1. Restart the controllers. After that, the S2600 devices can be successfully discovered.
2. Restart the NMS agent.
Enter debug and the correct password on the CLI to go to the debug mode.    Run the following commands:
cd /ISM/agent/conf
sh stop_agent.sh
sh start_agent.sh

Then the S2600 devices can be successfully discovered.
Root Cause
1. The network cables and switch are normal.
2. The management IP addresses of the S2600 devices are on the same subnet and can be pinged through.
3. When discovering storage devices on the same subnet, the relevant tool discovers only four S2600 devices. However, all the S2600 devices can be successfully discovered by their specified IP addresses, which are reallocated before.
4. The controllers of the four discovered storage devices are restarted after their IP addresses are changed. It indicates that the controllers need to be restarted after their IP addresses are changed.
