The switch port mirroring problem cause the bad video effect when VP8220 connect OPENEYE

Publication Date:  2012-09-28 Views:  54 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
There is a VP8220 connect to SOFTX3000 by switch Quidway3528, terminal video software OPENEYE is installed on a PC and connect SOFTX3000 by another port of this switch Quidway3528. The VP8220 can connect to OPENEYE, but the image is bad with serious mosaic.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
1,As the video communication between VP8220 and OPENEYE is connected by switch 3528 with 100M bandwidth, the VP8220 only need 384K bandwidth, so the bandwidth is enough.
2,Ping the connection between VP8220 and OPENEYE, the packet loss rate is almost 0, so the network is OK (the network under the same switch usually do not have problem)
3,Reinstall the soft terminal on the PC, the problem still alive
4,Install the soft terminal on a server, the problem still alive, so it is not the PC processing ability problem
5,Examine 3528 configuration, and we find the 24th port that PC used was made to mirror port, the 13th port that VP8220 used was made to mirrored port. The switch send the message (both 13th to 24th  or 24th to 13th ) of 13th port to 24th port by mirror channel, so one message will have two copies to the 24th port and cause the OPENEYE can not deal with.
Root Cause
We can make sure they can communicate with softswitch normally, as the connection is OK, the bad image is may caused by:
1,Baundwidth is not wide enough.
2,The bad network quality cause packet loss much
3,Soft terminal problem
4,The PC that install soft terminal has low process ability
5,The processing ability of soft terminal is not enough
Suggestions
If the soft terminal installed on the PC, we should better not made the switch port which connected to PC into the mirror port in order to avoid such problem.
