Set up the callback policy of tape cache as “immediately”, touch off the tape cache after running backup, upgrade cache until the visual tape data transfer and callback space, check tape state is cache. Running backup again, NetBackup software warns IO error.
The phenomena are as below:
In NetBackup console navigation, choose “NetBackup Management > Catalog”, check that there are copy group, it mens the copy group isn’t overdue, so it leads the backup fails.
Method 1. Overdue the backup group in NetBackup software.
1. In NetBackup console navigation, choose “NetBackup Management > Catalog”.
2. Click “Search Now” in the right operating area.
3. Right-click backup group and choose “Expire”.
Method 2. Use SSH tool to overdue the tape with backup group.
1. Key in cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/.
2. Key in ./bpexpdate.
nas:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd # ./bpexpdate XXXXXXXX
“XXXXXXXX” is the bar code of tape.
There are two types of tape cache, direct link tape and cache tape. After creating cache tape, if it callbacks disk space after touching off tape cache, this cache tape will change to direct link tape automatically. NetBackup software will read and write in tape depends on record when doing backup. If all the backup group in tape have overdue, NetBackup software will read and write from tape head to have cover operation, it will touch off VTL to change the tape type from direct link tape to cache tape. If the backup group in tape haven’t overdue, we will upgrade tape in VTL manually. Because the tape is the device which reads and writes in order, NetBackup software can’t recognize, still read and write from the middle of the tape, so it warns IO error.
