FC switch: Brocade 5100
HBA card: ATTO Celerity FC-82EN
The storage device and application server take the FC switch networking, as the picture 1 displayed:

In this networking condition, configure port mode of the HBA card as “Loop”, and we find the link between the application and the switch has unceasing intermittent disconnection, and can’t create connection with the storage device.

Handling Process
When the FC-82EN HBA card of the ATTO connecting with the Brocade switch, please set the topological mode of the HBA card as “P2P”, for the detailed operations please contact the ATTO technology engineer.
Root Cause
Through communicating with the FC chip supplier PMC, we know that the FC-82EN HBA card of the ATTO has taken the PMC’s QE8 chip, however when the QE8 chip connecting with the Brocade switch, there is a known compatibility problem, which will cause the link between the application server and the switch has unceasing intermittent disconnection, or can’t create connection.
