Handling Process

1. Check the status of N8000 before upgrade.
Make sure there is no problems of storage, hardware , FC link and cluster etc.
2. Offline file system.
Stop all share server.
Enter master account, use command ad follows to offline file system: storage fs offline filesystemname
3. Save configuration.
Enter support account, use command:
             cfsumount /var/lib/nfs/sm
          vxvol -g sfsdg stopall
          vxdg deport sfsdg
4. Upgrade cluster.
First install master node by CD.
Second install slave nodes by PXE.
Third make initialization. Make sure the name, cluster IP address, storage IP address are the same as before.
5. Export configuration back
Enter support account, use command:
vxdg -sC import sfsdg
6. Scanbus
Do several scanbus to find storage.
7. Online file system.
Enter master account, online file system and open CIFS or NFS server.
Root Cause
First, N8300 doesn’t support upgrade online, so it needs to stop all business. Upgrade means reset system.
Second, we can’t lose the configuration of N8000, so we must save the configuration to storage. And when upgrade is finished, exporting it back.
Last, make sure the versions of N8000 and T series. At the end of 2011, the version of N8300 is v1r2c00spc003 and T series is v1r1c01scp013.
