ADSL Configuration on Eudemon200E

Issue Description
The customer had Cisco DSL router 800, and he wanted to replace it with our Huawei's firewall Eudemen 200E-X, and due to some configuration issues on our firewal the customer didnt configure correctly , the ADSL service was not working correctly so accordingly the customer openned a ticket with us to help him to configure the firewall correctly.
Alarm Information
There was no alarams on the firewall only the ADSL service is not working with our firewall tough its already working on the Cisco DSL router
Handling Process
Accordingly we sent to the customer the correct steps to configure the ADSL on the firewall as follows:
Note that the customer wanted to configure ADSL over PPP:

First to configure the PVC:
Run:
system-view---------------The system view is displayed.

Run:
interface atm interface-number---------The ADSL interface view is displayed.

Optional: Run:
activate------------The ATM interface is activated.
(By default, the ADSL interface is active. If the ADSL interface is not active, you need to activate it.)

Run:
pvc vpi/vci--------------The PVC view is displayed.
(A maximum of 6 PVCs can be configured for each interface.)

Run:
encapsulation { llc | vc-mux }-------------------The encapsulation mode of the PVC is configured.
(llc: Adopts LLC/SNAP to encapsulate AAL5.)
(vc-mux: Adopts VC-MUX to encapsulate AAL5.)


Second Configuring PPPoA Mapping
Run:
system-view--------The system view is displayed.

Run:
interface dialer interface-number--------------------The Dialer interface is created and the Dialer interface view is displayed.
(According to the dial-up authentication mode on the server, run the following commands as required to set the user name and the password sent by the client during the dial-up authentication.)

Run:
ppp pap local-user user-name password cipher password-----------The user name and the password sent by the client during PAP dial-up authentication are set.

Run:
ppp chap user user-nameand
ppp chap password cipher password---------------The user name and the password sent by the client during CHAP dial-up authentication are set.

NOTE:
The authentication mode, user name, and password specified on the client must be consistent with those on the server; otherwise, the authentication fails. To match PAP or CHAP authentication mode on the server, it is recommended that both PAP and CHAP user names and passwords be specified on the client at the same time.

Run:
ip address ppp-negotiate------------------The interface is configured to obtain IP addresses through PPP negotiation.

Run:
ppp ipcp dns admit-any-------------------The interface is configured to passively receive the DNS address sent by the server.

Run:
dialer user user-name---------------------The dial-up user name is configured and the sharing Dial Control Center (DCC) is enabled.
NOTE:
Parameter user-name in the dialer user command is consistent with user-name in the ppp pap local-user or ppp chap user command.

Configure the PPPoA autodial or PPPoA dial-on-demand.
PPPoA autodial mode
Run:
dialer-group group-number------------------The Dialer interface is added to the dialer group to associate with the designated dial-up ACL.

Run:
quit--------------The system view is displayed.

Run:
dialer-rule rule-number { { ip | ipv6 } { deny | permit } | { acl  | acl6 } acl-number }-----------The Dialer rule is configured.
NOTE:
Parameter group-number in the dialer-group command must be consistent with rule-number in the dialer-rule command.

Run:
interface atm interface-number---------------------The ADSL interface view is displayed.

Run:
pvc vpi/vci-------------------------The PVC view is displayed.

Run:
map ppp dialer number--------------------The PPPoA mapping is configured, and the PPPoA is designated as dial-on-demand.

PPPoA dial-on-demand mode
Run:
quit-----------------The system view is displayed.

Run:
interface atm interface-number----------------The ADSL interface view is displayed.

Run:
pvc vpi/vci-------------------The PVC view is displayed.

Run:
map ppp dialer number autodial------------------The PPPoA mapping is configured, and the PPPoA is designated as autodial.

Root Cause
After analyzing the configuration on the customer's Huawei router appeared that there was some mistakes in the ADSL configuration.
Suggestions
Depending on the customer needs he should follow the correct configuration either PPPoA autodial or PPPoA dial-on-demand.
