Publication Date:  2013-04-02 Views:  43 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Trying to add add a secondary extending slave LUN on our S5500T and are receiving the error "The operation cannot be performed, because service status conflicts"
Alarm Information
"The operation cannot be performed, because service status conflicts"
Handling Process

We have checked logs and configuration files, and find the information as bellow:

2013-03-20 09:48:29    0x200e01f70011    Infor    None    admin:10.39.2.200 failed to add the slave LUN (slave LUN ID 0) to the extended LUN (LUN ID 11).    None.
2013-03-20 09:49:58    0x200e01f70011    Infor    None    admin:10.39.2.200 failed to add the slave LUN (slave LUN ID 0) to the extended LUN (LUN ID 11).    None.

SmartCache--------------------------------
    SmartCache Pool ID:0
        SmartCache Disk Number:1
        SmartCache Disk Member:
            EnclosureId:0, SlotId:22
        Enable SmartCache Function Lum Number:2
        LunId            LunSize(MB)
            0                1560576
            3                 307200

So you want to add the LUN 0 to the LUN 11, and the LUN 0 is a smartcache LUN, as we know, for the S5500T device, the smart cache LUN can not be made as a extending LUN, so I think you can select another common LUN and try it again.
Root Cause
Collect information from ISM regarding the storage to analyse them and to find exactly what could be the root cause

Suggestions
So if you want to add the LUN 0 to the LUN 11, and the LUN 0 is a smartcache LUN, as we know, for the S5500T device, the smart cache LUN can not be made as a extending LUN, so I think you can select another common LUN or disable the smartcache function of LUN 0
