Publication Date:  2013-06-19 Views:  75 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Product and version information:
  • T series storage products
  • The Operating system of the application server is Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise.
  • The HBA module is Emulex LP1150. The driver version is 5.2.41.002. The Fibre Channel HBA firmware version is 2.10A10. The Fibre Channel HBA BIOS version is 1.70a3. The storage device and application server use the DAS network, as shown in the following figure.
In the DAS network environment, when the following operations are performed, the host initiator is in the Link Down state on the storage device, as shown in the following figure.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
Step 1 Log in to the CLI and run the chgportparam command to change the latency for the Fibre Channel host port to send FLOGI commands to 500 μs.
Command syntax:
chgportparam -c controller id -b subboard id -p port id -d flogin delay times

controller id indicates the ID of the controller where the Fibre Channel host port resides. The Fibre Channel host port is connected to the Brocade 825 FC HBA.
subboard id indicates the ID of the interface module where the Fibre Channel host port resides. The Fibre Channel host port is connected to the Brocade 825 FC HBA.
port id indicates the ID of the Fibre Channel host port that is connected to the Brocade 825 FC HBA.
flogin delay time indicates the latency for sending FLOGI commands. It is set to 500.
Step 2 Log in to the ISM. Expand the storage device node on which you want to perform operations. In the navigation tree, choose Device Info > Ports. Select the Fibre Channel host port that is connected to the HBA and right-click the Fibre Channel host port. Choose Modify from the shortcut menu. Set the configuration mode of the Fibre Channel host port to point-to-point. V100R002C00SPC009 and later versions are auto-adaptive. There is no need to modify the configuration mode.
Root Cause
The driver of the Emulex LP1150 HBA does not comply with protocol standards. This causes the Link Down state of the initiator.
Suggestions
After a storage device is connected to an application server, do not modify the configured rate or mode of the Fibre Channel host port.
