S5500T Storage - Checking Storage Devices

Issue Description
Check the working status of the S5500T to ensure that the storage device meets the configuration requirements.

Handling Process
1. Run the following command to check the versions of controllers A and B of the S5500T:

admin:/> showupgradepkginfo -t 1

The command is successfully executed if the following information is displayed. The value of Package Version is the version of controllers A and B.

2. Confirm that the S5500T version is the same as planned.
If the S5500T version does not meet version requirements, obtain the required software package to upgrade the device by following the steps described in the upgrade guide.

Change the password.

3. Run the following command to change the login password of the S5500T:
admin:/>chguserpwd

4. Enter the passwords according to the command output.

Old password:
New password:
Re-enter new password:

-To ensure system security, the login password must meet the following requirements:
-Contain only alphanumeric characters and at signs (@).
-Contain a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, or numerals.
-Cannot contain the account name or reverse account name.
-Contain 8 to 16 characters.

The password has been changed successfully if the following information is displayed:

Command operates successfully.

Check performance monitoring.

-When the service load is heavy, performance monitoring will affect services. If the performance degrades less than or equal to 15%, you can determine whether to enable performance monitoring.

5. Run the following command to set the performance statistics of the system to on:

admin:/> chgperfswitch -sw on

The command is successfully executed if the following information is displayed:

Command operates successfully.

6. Run the following command to set the performance thresholds:

admin:/> chgperfthreshold -param resptime -type ge -th Threshold

The command is successfully executed if the following information is displayed:

Command operates successfully.

-Set the thresholds based on the site condition. Table 1 lists the recommended thresholds.

7. Run the following command to check the performance thresholds:

admin:/> showperfthresholds

The command is successfully executed if the following information is displayed. The values in the Threshold column are the performance thresholds of each parameter.

8. Confirm that the value of Threshold of Average I/O Response Time (ms) GE is the same with the value set in Step 6.
Root Cause
We will check the status if the S5500T storage following nest procedure:


Log in to the S5500T through the serial port.

1. Connect the local computer and S5500T serial port using the emulation program.
Key parameters are as follows:
- Port on the S5500T: serial port of controller A
- Bits per second: 115200
- The default administrator name is admin and password is Admin@storage.

2. Check the S5500T version.
The login is successful if the following information is displayed. The value of Product Version is the S5500T version.
