Publication Date:  2015-06-18 Views:  181 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Hardware configuration:
  • RH2285 server
  • 12 hard disks
  • LSISAS 1068E RAID controller card
Symptom:

When starting the server, press Ctrl+C to log in to the configuration interface of the 1068E RAID controller card. When you view the serial attached SCSI (SAS) topology, the system prompts that no hard disk is found, as shown in the red box in Figure 1.

Handling Process
1.  Check that 12 hard disks are properly installed, and Active indicators are green.

2.  Press the power button to power off the server, and open the shelf to check SAS cable connections for the RAID controller card.

3.  Remove and reinstall SAS cables to power on the server. Then enter the configuration interface of the RAID controller card, and find that information about 12 present hard disks is displayed in the SAS topology.

Root Cause
SAS cables are not connected properly. Reconnect SAS cables, and the RAID controller card can detect hard disks.

Solution
Power off the server correctly, open the shelf, and remove and reinstall SAS cables connected to the RAID controller card.

Suggestions
If hard disks cannot be detected in the configuration interface of the RAID controller card, perform the following steps to locate the problem:
  1. Remove and reinstall SAS cables for the RAID controller card.
  2. Replace new SAS cables.
  3. Replace a new RAID controller card.
