8.5 The SMU Is Offline After the VMU Two-Node Cluster Is Installed

Publication Date:  2015-06-23 Views:  64 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
After the VMU two-node cluster is installed, if you log in to the OMU portal to check the module status, you find that the SMU is in Offline state, as shown in Figure 8-3. After you click Restart, the SMU is still in Offline state.

Handling Process
Step 1 Check whether the VMU two-node cluster has permission on the license.dat file.
1. Log in to the active node of the VMU two-node cluster as the root user.
2. Run the cd /home/ivs_omu/config/lice/ command to go to the directory where the license.dat file locates.
3. Run the ll command to check permission on the license.dat file.
If the following information is displayed, the VMU two-node cluster has permission on the license.dat file:
total 12
-rwxr-x--- 1 ivsomuportal ivs 1732 2014-01-20 15:59 license.dat
-rwxr-x--- 1 ivsomuportal ivs 7531 2014-01-18 10:26 Productkey

 If the VMU two-node cluster has permission on the license.dat file, go to Step 2.
 If the VMU two-node cluster has no permission on the license.dat file, go to the next step.
4. Run the chmod 750 license.dat command to change access permission on the license.dat file.
5. Run the chown ivsomuportal:ivs license.dat command to change the owner permission on the license.dat file.
6. After permission is changed, check whether the fault is rectified.
If the fault is rectified, no further action is required. If the fault persists, go to the next step.
Step 2 Check whether the license.dat file is invalid.
1. Log in to the active node of the VMU two-node cluster as the root user.
2. Go to /home/ivs_smu/log/run and obtain the SMU log generated when the SMU module is restarted.
3. Check whether the error message license is not allowed exists in the log.
 If no, contact Huawei technical support engineers.
 If yes, the license.dat file is invalid. Go to the next step.
4. Obtain a valid license file of the VMU two-node cluster and change the file name to license.dat.
5. Upload the license.dat file to /home/ivs_omu/config/lice/ and go to the next step.
Step 3 Repeat Step 2 on the standby node of the VMU two-node cluster and restart the active and standby servers. Then go to the next step.
Step 4 Check whether the fault is rectified.
If the fault is rectified, no further action is required. If the fault persists, contact Huawei technical support engineers.
Root Cause
 The VMU two-node cluster has no permission on the license.dat file.
 The license.dat file is invalid.
