An RH2285 Cannot Access the OS

Issue Description
Hardware configuration:
RH2285 server, 1068E, and two 1 TB hard disks in redundant array of independent disks (RAID) 1 for installing the operating system (OS).

Software confiugration:
SUSE11 SP1 (64-bit)

Symptom:

The server cannot access the OS after the basic input/output system (BIOS) self-test. When the server starts, the system displays no operating system.
Handling Process
1.  Use the hard disk check tool to check the health status of hard disks for the server. Based on the Score values in Figure 1 (the two hard disks in the red box serve as the RAID 1 installation OS), the hard disks are in good condition.

 NOTE:
Replace those serial advanced technology attachment (SATA) hard disks whose scores are within 80.

2.  Reinstall the OS. The OS runs properly, indicating that the problem is resolved.
Root Cause
The health status of hard disks is abnormal, and the disk partitions may be damaged. In this case, the system cannot start and prompts no operating system.

Solution
Reinstall the OS. The problem is resolved.

Suggestions
If errors in Figure 1 occur, reinstall the OS. You are advised to separate the hard disks for installing the OS from those for storing data to avoid data loss due to OS crash.
