The USM Proxy Requirement Times Out

Publication Date:  2015-06-19 Views:  126 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
When the universal server manager (USM) is remotely connected to the E6000 to access the remote keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) for a shelf, the displayed information indicates that the proxy requirement times out, and the communication is abnormal.

Delete the shelf information, and add new information. Then access the shelf KVM. However, the error message is displayed repeatedly after this operation is implemented for several times.

Delete oldengineID for the shelf management module (SMM), and restart the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) module. After adding a shelf, you still cannot access the KVM.

Restart the USM, and repeat the preceding operation. However, the problem persists.

Handling Process
Obtain the following files:
  • USM\logs\usm.log
  • USM\logs\wrapper.log
  • USM\plugins\com.huawei.usm.kvm.sl\lib\kvm-sl.jar
  • USM version number http://ip:18888/usm/version.do
  • Shelf management module (SMM) software version number
usm.log contains ERROR com.huawei.usm.kvm.service.impl.KVMManagerImplsnmpmodule.exception.snmpexception, indicating that an error occurs during the access to the SNMP module.

Run the following command based on the floating IP address of the SMM in the shelf:

snmpget -v3 -c public -Oa -l authPriv -a MD5 -x DES -u root -A huaweiosta -X huaweiosta floatip, 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.2.82.1.82.3.40.0 Time out is returned.

If time out is returned, perform the following operations to modify the timeout duration:

Select the abnormal shelf, and click Shelf Authentication. Then set Timeout(Seconds) to 20, and click OK to save the settings.

Solution
Proxy accessing times out due to network delay. The default timeout duration is 7 seconds, and you can set the timeout duration longer (for example, 20 seconds).
