When enabling EVC function in VMware, error message reports ”necessary CPU features are missing”

1.       We found a similar case in VMware website, and need to enable Monitor/Mwait

2.       Ask customer to check if Monitor/Mwait is enabled in BIOS, if not, enable it

3.       After checking by customer, it works well after enabling this item in BIOS.

Monitor/Mwait is a feature regarding CPU power management, it can save power when CPU is in idle mode. VMware EVC function need to enable Monitor/Mwait.

Solution

         Enable BIOS Monitor/Mwait function.

1.       Press del when powering on to enter BIOS setup menuenter Advanced\Intel RC Group\Processor Configuration item.

2.       Enable Monitor/Mwait function, then press F10 to save setting
